Robin Hood
Origins
The idea of a Robin Hood first arose during the late 12th century and the early 13th century. Although there is not much evidence, some folks say that the tale of Robin Hood is based off of a true account of an outlaw. The earliest account of an outlaw with the name closest to that of the infamous outlaw's is an outlaw named Robert Hode. Robert Hode was an actual outlaw who escaped into the woods and started a new life there. Characters like Lady Marian were not in the original stories.
Literary works
Robin Hood has been recreated many times with different yet with the same good-natured and selfless Robin Hood. The first literary works which were inclusive of Robin Hood were poems called ballads. The first ballad to be seen which included Robin Hood now goes by the name of "Robin Hood and the Monk."
